What does "The 2nd coming of Christ" REALLY mean?
A Christ-Oriented Allegorical Interpretation St. John's Book of Revelation.
"Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made." (Genesis 3:1)
It's true! Today's most popular interpretations of St. John's Book of Revelation are inspired more by Satan than by God. Consider, for example, the interpretations contained in the following so-called "best sellers":
1. "The New World Order" by Pat Robertson, Word Publishing, 1991.
2. "The Final Battle" by Hal Lindsey, Western Front, Ltd., 1995.
3. "The Final Warning" by Grant R. Jeffrey, Harvest House Publishers, 1996.
The interpretations contained in the above publications are FATALY FLAWED, because they are designed to encourage people to put their faith and loyalty in the concept of national sovereignty (the bloodiest idol ever created by man) rather than God.
When asked "Which is the great commandment in the Law?", Jesus responded,
"You shall love the Lord your God with all you heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This if the first and great commandment. And the second is like it. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." (Matthew 22:37-40, New King James Version)
These two commandments are referred to hereafter in this document as "God's two most fundamental commandments." As described in more detail in my article "What is the Gospel of Jesus Christ? on this web site (www.onesalt.com), these commandments mean that we should seek the truth (commandment 1) relative to the commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves (commandment 2) without placing any restrictions on our definition of neighbor, and that we should seek to follow and abide by these two commandments as much as we reasonably can. Since Jesus pointed out quite clearly that on these two commandments "hang all the Law and the Prophets", one would expect these commandments to play a significant role in the interpretations of the scriptures contained in the three "best-sellers" listed above. But they do NOT! In fact, those three "best sellers" hardly even mention God's two most fundamental commandments! They are actually designed to divert their readers' attention AWAY from God's two most fundamental commandments.
a. Pat Robertson's book is primarily devoted to bad-mouthing "one-worlders" and various interpretations of the term "new world order" that have been used over the centuries. He urges his readers to politically oppose anybody and anything that might weaken his beloved national sovereignty idol. Although he does briefly mention God's two most fundamental commandments on page 169, he quickly dismisses them as being "not strict Christianity", "theist-humanism". When he finally gets around to discussing the Golden Rule and the Ten Commandments in the second to last chapter, it's like that chapter was added as an afterthought--totally ignoring the fact that throughout the rest of the book he has been violating first of the Ten Commandments by subordinating God to the concept of national sovereignty (in his definition of neighbor, among other things), violating the second of those commandments by promoting worship of the bloodiest idol ever created by man, and violating the third of those commandments by claiming to represent God while in fact he has been serving [guess who!] as an apostle of national sovereignty. However, he does make a number of worthwhile points to consider regarding the potential abuses which a true world government might endeavor to do if not properly designed (and if not guided by the kind of Church described to St. John as a "New Jerusalem").
b. Hal Lindsey's book doesn't mention God's to most fundamental commandments at all. On page 281, he even goes so far as to urge his readers not to listen to "allegorical alchemists" who interpret the scriptures the way Jesus did and not to listen to those who seek to "help usher in Christ's return by first cleaning up the world and bringing in the kingdom ourselves." Isn't that diametrically opposed to what we were taught to pray for in the Lord's Prayer? Since Hal's much-maligned "communist threat" has more or less collapsed, he has now conjured up a much-maligned "Muslim threat" (followed by a briefly revived "communist threat") to engage in his predicted physical war against the nation of Israel which he then predicts will produce a nuclear holocaust that will wipe out most of mankind. Indeed, something like that really COULD happen, if you follow Hal's advice. Future generations of mankind may actually remember this book as a "classic example of Satan's guile."
c. Grant Jeffrey's book doesn't mention God's two most fundamental commandments either (as far as I can tell). His national-sovereignty-inspired interpretation of the scriptures is essentially the same as the interpretations in the two books above, expect that he relies more heavily on misinterpretations of the Book of Daniel to support his points. In chapter 9, he describes the "New Jerusalem" kind of church which Jesus Christ envisioned as being an "ecumenical one-world church of the last days," "apostate", "pagan", "secular humanism", interested in "achieving a common consensus on the basis of the lowest common denominator theology". As you will recognize by the time you finish reading this document, he is in effect "speaking with the voice of Satan" when he makes such accusations. He does provide his readers with some useful financial planning advise for protection from his predicted "financial collapse of the world economy", and like the two authors above, he makes a number of valid points about our current world situation which do in fact need to be considered and dealt with. According to Mr. Jeffrey, Pope Paul VI wrote a papal encyclical that called on the nations to abandon their sovereignty to form a world government, and Pope John Paul II has been "constantly calling for the nations to abandon their opposition to world government." If so, then why haven't our news agencies been telling us about that?
Regardless of the amount of research they have done to make their points appear to be credible, as you will see, their interpretations REALLY ARE satanically inspired!
The ungodly consequences of such satanically inspired misinterpretations have indeed been fatal, at home and abroad. A few months ago, a two-night television mini-series showed how Hal Lindsey's interpretation (as published in his book, "The Late Great Planet Earth") contributed significantly to creating a situation which resulted in the shootouts that got three people killed on Ruby Ridge. And, as pointed out in the other articles on this web site, within the past decade alone, tens or millions of people have been killed or made homeless as a result of political actions that were inspired by such ungodly interpretations of the scriptures.
In contrast, let's NOW consider what "comes to mind" when one examines St. John's Book of Revelation specifically from the point of view of God's two most fundamental commandments. The commentary which follows is a revised and enhanced version of a commentary which I sent to Pope John Paul II in the summer of 1979 (I've received some more insights since then). Others will no-doubt be able to improve on this commentary as well, once they start interpreting these symbolisms the way Jesus and his disciples did (which was also the way the authors of Genesis originally intended to have such symbolisms to be interpreted).
In light of the feedback I've gotten regarding the article "How it All Began" on this web site, I guess for most people it would be easier to understand these symbolisms if you read this commentary first. Then go back and read my "How it all Began" article (noting especially how the original authors of Genesis used animal names to help them track the popular concepts of their day). This will help you to better understand where many of the symbolisms in St. John's Book of Revelation came from, and why they were created in the first place. Then, for the full effect, you should go back and read both of these commentaries along with the corresponding passages in you favorite copy of the Bible (keeping in mind that in order to be correct, your interpretations MUST conform with BOTH of God's two most fundamental commandments). If you make a serious effort at it, those scriptures will "come alive" for you in ways that you never before imagined, and you'll acquire at least three thousand year's worth of wisdom about human nature that will help guide you for the rest of our life.
Unfortunately (for just about everyone), as far as I have been able to determine, this truth-and-love approach for interpreting the scriptures is not being taught by our better known religions leaders and televangelists--probably because if they did, it would soon become obvious to their listeners that they (those religious leaders) have been subordinating God the concept of national sovereignty! As Jesus said, "You cannot serve God and mammon" without losing your credibility, and at least on this issue, they have been serving mammon. (Matthew 6:24)
Anyhow, let's get into it:
ST. JOHN'S BOOK OF REVELATION:
1:1 This revelation comes from God, through Jesus Christ, through an angel, through St. John, and at this point through me. The important point is that this revelation originates from God Himself, as you can easily verify by testing it for conformance with God's two most fundamental commandments.
1:2 Notice that the "Word of God" (an expression used to represent the revelations one receives when following God's two most fundamental Commandments) is the very next thing that St. John mentions. This should give you a BIG HINT as to how important those two commandments are for understanding the rest of the Book of Revelation.
[It is also important to note at this point that, contrary to what many preachers (including Grant Jeffrey) have claimed, the expression "Word of God" as used in the New Testament does NOT refer to the Bible itself. The "Holy Bible" as we know it did not exist when the four gospels or St. John's Book of Revelation were written. So the Bible itself is not the "Word of God"--it's more like a history of what mankind has learned by following the Word of God. In the past, many of those who have claimed that "the Bible is the Word of God" have used that premise to justify ungodly acts based on their Satanically inspired misinterpretations of selected quotations from the Bible (as they say, "even the devil can quote the scriptures"). You can easily detect (or avoid) Satanically inspired misinterpretations of the Bible by recognizing that godly interpretations of the Bible must always conform with the truth relative the to commandment to love your neighbor as yourself (with no restrictions on your definition of neighbor).]
1:3 Blessed are those who hear and understand these revelations, who read them aloud (spread the word), and who act according to God's guidance as revealed in these revelations.
1:4 The "seven churches in Asia" may have been actual churches at the time this book was written, but they also symbolically represent the various denominations of Christianity and Judaism in today's world (a largely apostate, broken up church--each made that way by their own set of ungodly restrictions which they have chosen to place on the applicability of God's two most fundamental commandments). It also provides an indication as to why St. John's Book of Revelation had to be written (because the churches were becoming apostate).
1:5-8 These verses indicate that the second coming of Christ will be a spiritual event--not the return of Jesus as a physical human being. The expression "those who pierced him" applies to just about everyone these days. As this event occurs, people in all parts of the world will weep bitterly, because they will finally perceive the dreadful consequences that have resulted for their worship of the bloodiest idol ever created by man.
1:9-11 The message here is basically, "When you finally realize what these revelations are all about, write to the churches." [I have.]
1:12-16 This vision shows a representation of Christ with his sharp double-edged sword of truth (God's two most fundamental commandments) coming out of his mouth (i.e. it's a sword of words, not steel!). Throughout the Book of Revelation, all references to light or brightness refer to God's truth and love in one form or another. The seven golden "lampstands" (and subsequently their corresponding "stars") represent the limited lights of the various denominations of Christianity and Judaism (and other religions)-God's light limited by ungoldly distinctions restricting the applicability of God's two most fundamental commandments. Note how St. John's description of this vision indicated that the light of Christ was far brighter than the light of those lampstands. St. John's description of Christ's voice as being like the "sound of many waters" is the sound of the Kingdom of God as taught by Jesus Christ (i.e. the voices of all those who are truly following God's commandment to love their neighbors as themselves).
1:17-19 Here, St. John is admitting that when he first received these visions, he was emotionally "floored" by their sheer magnitude and awesome significance. But Christ told him to get back up and start writing (to the churches). In verse 18, Christ is saying that the revelations which follow provide the solution for the problems of death and hell. God's answer to our prayer's for peace is about the be presented!
2:1-7 The first church is an example of a church that had done many good deeds in the past but had lately strayed away from following God's two most fundamental commandments. The test that Christ is referring to for identifying false apostles is really quite easy. Those who refuse to follow or obey God's two most fundamental commandments are not "of God", they are "of the world"--no matter that they call themselves (1 John 2:2-6). Christ's double-edged sword of truth can be used by ANYONE to destroy the credibility of any person who claims to represent God while refusing to obey God's two most fundamental commandments. In this case, Christ threatens to remove the "lampstand" (His guidance and credentials) for the first church if the members of that church don't repent and get back on track.
2:9-11 The second church is an example of a church that has faithfully followed God's two most fundamental commandments but has suffered persecution from so-called "men of God" who call themselves "Jews" but are in fact representing a "synagogue of Satan". Christ promises that the rewards for those who suffer for His sake will be great. This also indicates that at the time that St. John's Book of Revelations was written, it was people who called themselves "Jews" (not the Romans) who were persecuting the early Christians. [more about this point later]
2:12-17 The third church is an example of a church that is located in an idolatrous area but has fairly well followed God's two most fundamental commandments except for one thing. They have failed to use Christ's double-edged sword of truth to either correct or expel those among them who claim to be "servants of God" but are not. To claim to be a "servant of God" while in fact you are not amounts to using God's name in vain--a violation of the third of the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:7). Using God's name in vain is a very serious sin. God blames those who misuse His name for the dreadful consequences the usually result for the misuse of His name. This significance of this in today's world will become more obvious later in this commentary. The main point to be made here is that you are expected to not only follow God's two most fundamental commandments, but also to use those two commandments to expose lies and solve problems. This requirement is inherent in the second of God's two most fundamental commandments--to love your neighbor as yourself.
2:18-25 The fourth church is an example of another church that has failed to use Christ's double-edged sword of truth to either correct or expel a false prophet who is among them. The expression "eating food sacrificed to idols" symbolically represents the act of believing the lies that are told for the sake of preserving some ungodly concept or idol. Those who believe such lies will suffer a spiritual death and may even get themselves physically killed as a result of such foolishness. "Searching hearts and minds" is easy to do, when you compare a person's conduct to God's two most fundamental commandments.
2:26-28 In these three verses, Christ points out that the world will eventually be ruled by a person (or series of persons) who will for the most part follow God's two most fundamental commandments. The expression "he will rule with an iron rod" means that he (or they) will establish what amounts to a true world government that will create and enforce world-wide law and order out of what is presently a form of international anarchy. Notice how Christ's promise to REWARD his faithful followers in this regard is PRECISELY THE OUTCOME which the three books listed at the beginning of this article are ATTEMPTING TO PREVENT! [Gotcha Ha1!]. Such a government will not itself be the World of God, but it will at least be one which will allow itself to be guided to some extent by the light of the World of God (the "morning star").
2:29 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." This often repeated plea or warning serves to emphasize just how important these revelations are for the future of mankind. This commentary which your are presently reading is performing the function referred to a "what the Spirit says to the churches."
3:1-6 The fifth church is an example of a church that has only a few members who are following God's two most fundamental commandments. Only those few will be rewarded. If the remaining members of that church don't "wake up", the second coming of Christ will be catch them by surprise and find them "standing naked."
3:7-13 The sixth church is another example of a church that has been following God's two most fundamental commandments fairly well. Christ promises to keep them safe during the "hour of trial" which will accompany the second coming of Christ.
3:14-18 The seventh church is an example of a church that is materially wealthy and has grown complacent about following God's two most fundamental commandments, especially the second one. Christ threatens to reject them if they don't repent and get back on track.
3:19 "All those whom I love, I correct and discipline." This is a VERY important point. It corrects a common misconception about Jesus Christ. Although Jesus severely criticized the Scribes and Pharasees and was highly disappointed in them, he did NOT hate them. While on the cross, Jesus pleaded, "Father forgive them for they know not what the do"--he was referring not only to the Romans who were executing him, but also to those Scribes and Pharisees (Luke 23:24). You see, Jesus defined CONCEPTS as his enemies, not people. That's the whole point of his "Sermon on the Mount" (Matthew 5-7). The reason Jesus so severely criticized the Scribes and Pharisees was because they were failing to live up to the principles that they claimed to abide by (i.e. they were using God's name in vain). He was attempting to shame them into practicing what they preached! The fact that they claimed to represent God gave Jesus the moral leverage he needed to levy such criticisms (and some basis for hope that they might in fact decide to start taking God's commandments seriously).
3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock...." This is another way of saying "seek and you shall find...." If you seriously seek to follow both of God's two most fundamental commandments, God will show you the truth about the way things are and what needs to be done. This is how I discovered this method for interpreting the Bible--it was my concern for the suffering of the people in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War coupled with my concern for the truth. Subsequent insights may improve upon your earlier insights, but as long as you seek to follow both of God's two most fundamental commandments, you won't be lead astray. By "knocking on the door", Christ is asking you (perhaps even pleading with you) to seek the truth relative to God's two most fundamental commandments.
3:21 What Christ is saying here is that if you use His double-edged sword of truth to solve problems, you will be like Him.
4:1 This verse indicates that the rest of the visions contained in the Book of Revelation will primarily refer to events that will happen subsequent to the time that book was written.
4:2-5 Throughout the Book of Revelation, the word "Heaven" is used to represent mankind's popular (earthly or worldly) perceptions of God. Note the seven limited lights (torches of fire) in this vision. The 24 "elders" represent the spirits of the 12 tribes of Israel plus the 12 apostles of Jesus (two sets of 12 operating in parallel at this point in time).
4:6-11 The four "living creatures" that are covered with eyes in front, behind, and within represent various God-worshipping religious belief systems that are similar to the Kingdom of God as taught by Jesus Christ. The description of them as having eyes in front, behind, and within means that they have been continually looking at concepts and their results but only occasionally evaluating them according to BOTH of God's two most fundamental commandments (Matthew 7:15-20). Each of these creatures has six wings, which indicates that they are man-made, and that their interpretations of the scriptures tend to move around a lot. The crystal-like sea of glass around God's throne represents waters of scriptural interpretation that have become "solid as a rock", because they are soundly based upon the truth relative to the commandment to love your neighbor as yourself (without restrictions). The precise identity of these four living creatures has yet to be determined. [This is a LIVING interpretation ultimately coming to you from a LIVING God.] The fact that there are FOUR of them means that they come from "the four corners of the earth" (i.e. they need not be limited to organizations that call themselves "Christian" or "Jewish"; they can be organizations who have been calling themselves "Muslim", "Buddhist", "Bahai", or whatever--they just have to agree to take God's two most fundamental more seriously than before (i.e. without restrictions). Any volunteers?
5:1-4 "Who is worthy to open the book and break its seals?" The answer is--anyone who follows both of God's two most fundamental commandments. "No one in Heaven, on earth, or under the earth...." That pretty well describes what has happened since I first presented this truth-and-love approach for interpreting the scriptures to many of Christianity's best-known religious leaders in the early 1970s (and again several times since then). Although my letters were not entirely ignored, it eventually became evident that they WERE'NT EVEN TRYING to follow God's two most fundamental (and most important) commandments, even to save the lives of tens of millions of people. Those Biblical prophesies regarding how apostate our churches would be at this point in time have indeed been fulfilled!
[My article "The DEADLY Price of Censorship" on this web site provides further substantiation of this point.]
5:5-14 But there is still hope. These verses predict that eventually, the leaders of various religious denominations (at least 70% of them) will open their eyes to God's two most fundamental commandments and accept this basic approach for interpreting the scriptures. Notice that the horns on the "Lamb" in this vision have their eyes opened. As will be shown later, the horns on the bloody beast in Chapter 17 have their eyes closed. The representation of the "Body of Christ" as a LAMB in this vision means that these religious leaders will ACCEPT THE BLAME for the massive bloodshed that has been inflicted upon the people of the world because they subordinated God to concept of "national sovereignty"! It is their JOB to do so!
[Jesus sacrificed his own life on a cross to ensure that this message got through to our generation. The cross itself can be viewed as a symbol of the intersection of truth and love!]
6:1-8 The breaking of the seven seals is designed to provide the readers with an initial identification of the problem and some hints that will lead to the proper interpretation of the rest of the visions in the Book of Revelation. The fact that the Lamb breaks the seals indicates that the key for properly interpreting this vision is provided by Jesus Christ (i.e. Matthew 7:15-20 and Matthew 22:37-40). The fact that the four "horseman" are presented by the four "living creatures" indicates that the true identity of these four horsemen will be revealed by looking at concepts, looking at their results, and using Christ's key (Matthew 22:37-40) to evaluate both the concepts and their results. The rider on the white horse is NOT Jesus Christ. It's a Satanically created imitation of Jesus Christ! Notice that the rider is carrying a bow (a weapon for physically killing people) rather than the previously described double-edged sword (of words) coming out of his mouth. This first horseman (the idol of national sovereignty) APPEARS to be "holy", and having a crown given to him indicates that he has been "ruling the world" (it's a fact--people all over the world are worshipping flags that represent their own particular versions of that idol). The three horsemen which follow represent the RESULTS which inevitably occur when people follow that first horseman. The second horseman represents war. His single-edged sword (as opposed to a double-edged sword) indicates that he uses only half of the truth. [more about this point later] The third horseman represents famine, and an inexcusable disparity between the rich and the poor. The fourth horseman represents the spiritual as well as physical death which results from the hiding of God's truth from the people of the world. The expression to "kill...through the wild beasts of the earth" is especially significant. Throughout the Book of Revelation, terms such as "earth", "mountains", and "islands" are used to represent mankind's perceptions of popular truths. Prior to the second coming of Christ, some of those truths parallel, but are not the same as, the truths revealed by following God's two most fundamental commandments. The expression "wild beasts of the earth" can also be interpreted as "beastly worldly concepts" like unrestrained capitalism, communism, "preemptive nuclear strike", etc.
6:9-11 The breaking of the fifth seal indicates that God had certain reasons for allowing the concept of national sovereignty to exist until now, in spite of its tragic consequences. These reasons will be revealed later. Verse 6:10 is often interpreted to sound like the sants who have died in God's behalf are asking for bloody vengeance on the people of the earth. If that were the case, then the white robes could be interpreted as representing God's effort to correct their misconceptions, since their request failed to conform with God's two most fundamental commandments. However, it appears more likely that what they were really asking for was God's vengeance against the ungodly CONCEPTS that inhabit the "earth" (of mankind's perceptions of popular truths).
6:12-17 The breaking of the sixth seal shows what mankind needs to do to solve such problems. Throughout the Book of Revelation, the term "earthquake" is used to describe how God's truth will rock and split the foundations of man's popular thinking (as I am doing now). The "SUN" represents various religious denominations' limited perceptions of the FIRST of God's two most fundamental commandments. The "stars" represent little lights of God's truth which have been limited on all sides by ungodly distinctions, and the "MOON" represents various religious denominations' limited perceptions of the SECOND of God's two most fundamental commandments. These limited lights of truth and love can sometimes be satanically used to achieve ungodly purposes (as we have already seen the in the introduction to this article). God's prescribed solution to the problems of war, massive starvation, and spiritual death is to use Christ's double-edged sword of truth (God's two most fundamental commandments) to slice through all of those ungodly distinctions. Christ's double-edged sword of truth can be used to show the people of the world how such ungodly distinctions and limitations have blotted out the light of the first of God's two most fundamental commandments (the "sun"), and have made a bloodbath out of the second of God's two most fundamental commandments (the "moon"). At first, most of those who hear such arguments will run from them and attempt to hide in the "caves" of their worldly reasoning (this has been happening since 1971). However, eventually, the darkened "sky" created by the worship of national sovereignty will disappear like a scroll being rolled up, and numerous commonly accepted worldly beliefs will be jolted out of place. (Whew!)
7:1-12 The four angels in this vision correspond to the four "living creatures" in Chapter 6 and the first four trumpeters described in Chapter 8. They represent religious leaders who are well known enough to be able to break through the Satanically inspired censorship practices of the four winds (our national and international new agencies and communications media). An "angel ascending out of the east, holding the seal of the living God" will request these religious leaders not to start executing God's wrath over the air waves until certain others have had to time to get organized for the attack. [Any volunteers? Christ is knocking on the door!] The effective execution of God's wrath on the concept (or "spirit") of national sovereignty will ultimately require a small "army" of people who have faith in God and are willing to take God's two most fundamental commandments seriously, even if it means risking their popularity for a while. The seven "trumpeters" described in Chapters 8 through 11 represent those who will recruit this army. At first, St. John describes this army as coming from the 12 tribes of Israel, and then he describes them as coming from "every nation and tribe and people and language." What this means is that God's vengeance on those beastly concept will be executed by Jews, Christians, and people of other religions faiths TOGETHER!
7:13-14 These two verses show that whether they be Christian or Jew (or anyone, for that matter), if they accept the blame for the bloodshed and devastation that has resulted from their worship of national sovereignty, repent, and start following God's two most fundamental commandments together, they will be purified of their sins in the eyes of God and will not have to suffer the heat of God's wrath. They will give credit, honor, and glory to God and Jesus Christ [because were it nor for their teachings and guidance, mankind would probably have "nuked" itself out of existence by now!]
8:1 The seventh seal--utter silence in Heaven. This is where we are now. Many of the leaders of Christianity and Judaism KNOW what God wants them to do in this regard. Are they quietly preparing to execute God's wrath upon that bloody idol of national sovereignty? Or are the waiting for some kind nuclear war to erupt before they decide to start taking God's two most fundamental commandments seriously?
[Hal Lindsey's interpretation would have people believe that they need not worry, because such nuclear war will occur in the Middle East, and as long as they claim to be "Christian", a supernatural "rapture" will save them from such dire consequences. However, with the billions of dollars our Congress plans to spend on a "Star Wars" anti-missile system not withstanding, it's just as likely that such a nuclear holocaust will occur in the United States--from bombs smuggled in mini-vans, trucks, or helicopters as depicted in Arnold Swartzeneger's movie "True Lies." As we have seen time and again in our news reports (the bombing of the World Trade Center in New York, bombings in Ireland, the Middle East, etc.), the HATREDS that can be inspired for the sake of some person or groups' interpretation of what their beloved "national sovereignty" should be are VIRTUALLY BOUNDLESS! ]
8:2-6 Consider this commentary to be the "golden censer" in this vision The incense represents God's love, as revealed by the second of God's two most fundamental commandments. The fire represents God's truth, as revealed by the first of God's two most fundamental commandments. When the two are mixed together, they expose the "smoke" of Satan (as I did in the introduction to this article). In this vision, the saints are praying that our religious leaders of will use the fire and incense described in this commentary to expose the smoke of Satan in mankind's earthly (worldly) perceptions of popular truths. Verse 6 shows that they will indeed do so, as they prepare their "trumpets" to launch the attack.
8:7 The first trumpeter will publicly appeal to the people of the world to use both of God's two most fundamental commandments (fire and hail) to expose the root causes of evil and "burn up" the ungodly concepts that inhabit mankind's "earth" of worldly perceptions. The "hail" symbolism here is used to represent arguments of God's love that are thrown with such force that it hurts. The "blades of grass and trees" (symbolism from Genesis 1:11) symbolize ungodly distinctions and teachings which have grown out of mankind's worldly thinking to separate the various denominations of Christianity and Judaism.
[Notice how this relates to Jesus' lament in Matthew 23:37, "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, murdering the prophets and stoning those who are sent to you. How often would I have gathered your children together as a mother fowl gathers her brood under her wings, and you refused!" Those ungodly distinctions that separate our religious denominations are inspired by Satan!]
8:8-9 The second trumpeter will publicly roast the concept of national sovereignty using the fire of God's truthful wrath and throw this revelation at the "sea" (of mankind's interpretations of the scriptures). He (or she) will show the people of the world how the concept of national sovereignty has ravaged mankind with an UNENDING series of blood-baths, famines, and destruction.
8:10-11 The third trumpeter will publicly show the world how the concept of national sovereignty has poisoned the teachings (rivers and springs) of the various religious denominations and caused many people to suffer spiritual as well as physical death when they believed in ("drank") those poisoned teachings.
8:12 The fourth trumpeter will publicly show the world how the concept of national sovereignty has been like a log in the eyes of mankind, largely blocking out the light of love that can be found by following God's two most fundamental commandments (the "sun" and the "moon"). He (or she) will show that the concept of national sovereignty has even obscured the limited lights of the various religious denominations by causing them to focus primarily on their petty man-made doctrines rather than following the Light of God (Matthew 7:3).
8:13 Sometimes people will refuse to accept the truth, even when it is staring them right in the face. They will need more details and explanations in order to be convinced to give up those ungodly concepts that have poisoned their minds ever since they were children.
9:1-11 The fifth trumpeter, who at one time had been an avid supporter of national sovereignty, will publicly repent and show the world how God's two most fundamental commandments helped him to recognize (by "opening the bottomless pit") the smoke screen of lies and unjustified hatreds that Satan has been dishing out. He will show the world how such lies and unjustified hatreds have polluted the air so badly that mankind has hardly been able to see the Light of God's two most fundamental commandments (the "sun" and the "moon"). This fifth trumpeter will appeal to the people of his particular religious denomination to come out from under the influence of Satan's smoke and use Christ's double-edged sword of truth to SEVERELY criticize all those who worship the concept of national sovereignty. He will tell them not to worry at this particular time about the ungodly distinctions and teachings that separate the various religious denominations (grass, green things, and trees) but to concentrate on all those who worship national sovereignty and its related beastly concepts. Many people will seek spiritual death as they attempt to hide from these anti-national-sovereignty warriors. But these warriors will be everywhere, severely criticizing those who worship national sovereignty (kind of like the US "anti-war movement" in the late 1960s and early 1970s). Because of his tremendous zeal for using God's truth to destroy the popularity of the concept of national sovereignty, this fifth trumpeter will become known as "the destroyer" (a destroyer not of people, but of ungodly concepts).
9:13-21 The sixth trumpeter will publicly appeal to everybody else to become anti-national-sovereignty warriors. Among other things, he will partially succeed in convincing the world's news agencies and communications media to stop uttering lies and practicing censorship for the sake of national sovereignty. Throughout the Book of Revelation, this practice of lying an censoring for the sake of national sovereignty is referred to as the "great River Euphrates" (of false interpretations and teachings). Now that they can get the attention of our so-called "free press", the arguments of the four living creatures expressed through these anti-national-sovereignty warriors will finally receive world-wide exposure. The fire of God's truth (the first of God's two most fundamental commandments) fueled by the sulfur of God's love (the second of God's two most fundamental commandments) will be used together to expose the smoke of Satan's lies world wide. A third of mankind will "die" as followers of national sovereignty and be "born again" as living followers of God. (John 3:5-8) But for a while, two thirds of mankind will still refuse to repent of their sins in this regard.
[The national-sovereignty-inspired misinterpretations of the scriptures described in the introduction appear to be LOOKING FORWARD to the PHYSICAL DESTRUCTION of at least a third of mankind while the "true believers" are "raptured" up into the air to be with Christ. Not that's satanic! A far more godly interpretation is that a third of mankind will meet Christ SPIRITUALLY once they realize what it REALLY means to be a part of the Kingdom of God!]
10:1-2 At this point, St. John's visions begin to provide some of the background information needed to more fully understand the significance of God's two most fundamental commandments. The visions which follow also provide guidance regarding how God's two most fundamental commandments should be used, and why they should be used that way. Notice that the angel of Light in this vision comes down from the "heaven" of mankind's perceptions of God and stands with one foot on the "sea" of mankind's misinterpretations of the scriptures and the other foot on the "earth" of mankind's perceptions of popular truths. Hint! Hint! "Heaven", "sea", and "earth" are to be interpreted symbolically--and they are related to each other (as originally described in the first chapter of Genesis).
10:3-4 The fact that St. John was directed NOT to write down that he was told to him by the seven thunders indicates that when St. John wrote the Book of Revelation, he knew very well what these visions were all about, but God convinced him that for the time being, he should not get too explicit (otherwise, his writings would never had survived through centuries of pro-national-sovereignty censorship). This vagueness also permitted St. John's Book of Revelation to be used over the centuries to help bring down other ungodly concepts and practices such as the concept of slavery, certain ungodly practices of the Roman Catholic Church during the "dark ages", etc.
10:5-7 Here the angel is saying that when the ultimate (and mysterious) purpose of the Book of Revelation is finally revealed to mankind, there should be no more delay. The time has come for the great battle and the second coming of Christ to REALLY rule the world (in spirit).
10:8-10 This vision about eating the little book is kind of a hint to encourage readers to seek to find the real meaning of these visions, especially the meaning of the "Mighty Babylon" symbolism. As will be shown later, the "Mighty Babylon" is the concept of national sovereignty in its idolized (or diefied) form. It is a concept that tastes as "sweet as honey", but once you have eaten it (believed in it), the results are bitter--to say the least.
10:11 Here St. John is told to write down some more prophesies to help us better understand how God's two most fundamental commandments have influenced the course of world history.
11:1-2 By measuring the "Temple of God" at this point in the story, St. John is showing how small and limited mankind's perception of God has been until now. Compare this vision with the dimensions and splendor of the gigantic "New Jerusalem" in Chapter 21. Notice also that the nations are not included in this initial Temple of God. Their loyalties are completely outside of it. The 42 months means that the nations will trample over each other and the concept of a unified church (the holy city) for a rather long time.
11:3-4 During this rather long time (1260 days = 42 months = 3 1/2 years), God provided the world with to "witnesses". These two "witnesses" are God's two most fundamental commandments in mourning (sackcloth), because they have been MISUSED by mankind. The were used SEPARATELY, rather than together as God had commanded. The first of God's two most commandments has been the source of power for the appeal of "freedom" ideologies such a unrestrained capitalism and unrestrained democracies (the direct popular vote, as described in "The Golden Goose of American Politics" article on this web site). These "freedom" ideologies are brutally truth-oriented. Their strength comes from their ability to fairly accurately measure and adapt to whatever people happen to be thinking at the time. However, there is no love in such ideologies, as can be seen by the inexcusable disparity between the rich and the poor in those countries that have practiced such ideologies in their purest form. The second of God's two most fundamental commandments has been the source of power for the "equality" ideologies, like the various forms of communism. Governments which claim to be based on such equality ideologies promise to follow the commandment to "love your neighbor as yourself", but they have such a low regard for the truth that they often end up producing the opposite results. Both the "freedom" and "equality" ideologies have largely failed to live up to their promises, because each has largely ignored the other half of God's two most fundamental commandments.
11:5-6 These verses describe how these "freedom" and "equality" ideologies have often killed those who have attempted to kill them. They have used their power to block off mankind's perceptions of God (shut up the sky) and to block our natural expressions of God's love (stop the rain). Acting separately against each other, these two types of ideologies ("witnesses") have plagued and bloodied mankind over the centuries. Chapter 14 describes the blood which has been shed for the sake of these "freedom" and "equality" ideologies as being enough to fill a 200 mile river as high as a horse's bridle!
[Mankind's failure to learn the importance of using those two commandments TOGETHER has cost the lives of hundreds of millions of men, women and children. It's a lesson which mankind still hasn't learned, because
the censorship practices of our so-called "free press" have kept mankind from learning about it!]
11:7-10 This vision shows that God revealed to St. John over 1,900 years ago that another beastly ideology (presently called "nationalism") would eventually overpower the "freedom" and "equality" ideologies. People would no longer put their faith in promises of "freedom" or "equality"; instead they would put their faith in promises of "national sovereignty" to solve their problems. The celebrations referred to in these verses represent the joy of those whose sacrifices for the sake of "national sovereignty" had succeeded in getting them out from under the colonialism of countries that espoused the "freedom" or "equality" ideologies. Verse 8 points out that this "national sovereignty" beast was the SAME BEAST that motivated the Scribes and Pharisees to have Jesus crucified. Remember, on the day Jesus was crucified, the Jews in Jerusalem were given a choice between saving the life of a violent advocate of Jewish national sovereignty (Barabbas) or an advocate of the Kingdom of God based on God's two most fundamental commandments. They chose to save (and follow) Barabbas until the Romans physically destroyed Jerusalem (for that reason) in 70 AD.
[As pointed out in my article "How It All Began", there is nothing new about this beast that we presently call "national sovereignty". It was first identified by the authors of Genesis (in Chapter 3) who also showed us (in Chapters 6 and 7) how to ultimately save ourselves from it's inevitably deadly consequences.]
11:1-14 These verses show that although the "feedom" and "equality" ideologies had been dead for a while (but not completely buried), God will call the sources of power for the "freedom" and "equality" ideologies back up into Heaven (mankind's supernatural perceptions of God) where everybody will be able to see them and use them as they are supposed to be used--TOGETHER! When used together, God's two most fundamental commandments become Christ's double-edged sword of truth--ultimately the most powerful weapon for PEACEFUL change that mankind has ever seen. Christ's double-edged sword of truth combines the power of the "freedom" and "equality" ideologies in such a way as to bring about changes PEACEFULLY by killing CONCEPTS rather than people. The resurrection and ascension of God's two most fundamental commandments will strike terror into the hearts of those who want to protect their beloved idol of national sovereignty. When the trumpeters start using Christ's double-edged sword of truth against the concept of national sovereignty, it will create an "earthquake" in contemporary thinking that will cause at least 7,000 people to "die" as followers of national sovereignty and start "living" as followers of God. The rest of mankind will "acknowledge" the glory of God in Heaven, but for a while, they still won't obey.
11:15-19 These verses describe the seventh trumpeter publicly appealing to the people of the world to give glory to God (rather than national sovereignty). He will show that now is the time to destroy the destroyers of the earth (ungodly perceptions). Eventually, mankind will perceive a new view of God. The doors in the Temple in Heaven (which had been shut) will be thrown open, so that mankind can see what God's covenant has been all along. All those who follow God's two most fundamental commandments TOGETHER are "of God" or "sons of God".
12:1-2 These two verses describe Jesus Christ's original vision of a Kingdom of God on earth. Jesus was born under the rule to the Roman Empire which was the closest thing to a true world government that had ever been achieved up to that time. He grew up at a time and place where the Roman idea of world government was experiencing certain pains from worshippers of Jewish national sovereignty. [It's important to note that Jesus NEVER joined his contemporaries' efforts to criticize the Roman Empire.] Apparently, Jesus' original plan was to create a spiritual Kingdom of God that would end up converting the Roman Empire into a true world government that would abide by God's two most fundamental commandments (i.e. the woman in this vision). Jesus recognized that it would not be a perfect Kingdom of God, as indicated by the "sun" and the "moon" where are large sources of light but nevertheless still limited sources of light. The moon under the feet of the woman indicates that Jesus recognized that there were still some ungodly concepts that would have to eventually be overcome (such as the concept of slavery). The twelve stars represent the twelve tribes of Israel who would help to guide this godly Roman Empire in his original vision.
[In 324 AD, the Roman Emperor Constantine did in fact adopt Christianity as the empire's official "state religion" (probably to facilitate his attempts to hold the Roman Empire together), but by then the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church had become corrupted by satanically inspired efforts to rely on worldly political power rather than the power of God's truth and love.]
12:3-6 The huge blood-red dragon represents a worldly system based on the satanically inspired concept of national sovereignty. The seven heads represent various nations or empires competing with each other for power, and the ten horns represent apostate religions leaders (with their eyes closed) tagging along for the ride. Even in those days, the concept of national sovereignty had caused many stars (limited lights) to fall down from Heaven (mankind's perception of God) to the earth (mankind's perception of popular truths). It was this dragon of national sovereignty that motivated King Herod to try to kill Jesus soon after he was born. But Jesus was destined by God to become a shepherd for all nations which will be ruled with a "rod of iron" (a true world government).
[Apparently, prior to the time twelve apostles came on the scene, Jesus had attempted to convince the Scribes and Pharisees to follow his vision of creating a god-guided Roman Empire, but they refused--probably for many of the same reasons our PRESENT religious leaders have so far refused to accept or support the Kingdom of God as taught by Jesus Christ. (Matthew 23:37) Evidently, when Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness, he received a new vision from God, a vision that at some later time he would have to "come again" (in spirit) to complete God's mission and establish a "new Jerusalem" as described in Revelation Chapters 21 and 22. If so, then this would explain why Jesus sought and found twelve disciples (to parallel the twelve tribes of Israel). It would also help to further explain why Jesus was so angry at those Pharisees and Scribes.]
12:7-9 Apparently, when Christ returned to Heaven, a debate began immediately between Christ and Satan. Satan argued (among other things) that God was to be Lord of the Jews only. Christ argued otherwise. Satan lost, and God had the Archangel Michael throw Satan out of Heaven (mankind's perception of God). This corresponds approximately to the time when God told St. Peter (through a vision) to accept gentiles who followed God's two most fundamental commandments as being "of God" as well. (Acts 10) Other limited lights based on man-made doctrines were thrown out of Heaven as well.
12:10-13 The rest of the angels in Heaven rejoiced at finally having gotten rid of Satan and his hatred-inspiring lies. This extension of Christ's teachings beyond the Jews was the beginning of the end for Satan.
12:13-17 Having been thrown out of Heaven, Satan decided to fight to maintain his rule over the earth. He used his national sovereignty beast to crumble the Roman Empire (an outcome which could only be delayed, not stopped, by what had become by then an apostate Roman Catholic Church). Satan spewed lies and censorship (the River Euphrates) in an attempt to keep the concept of a god-guided true world government from ever being considered by the people of the world. The earth (mankind's perceptions of popular truths) completely swallowed (believe in) such satanically inspired misinterpretations of the scriptures thereby permitting them to be reproduced over the centuries (with their real message hidden within). Since then, the war which Satan has waged against God's children (Jews and Muslims as well as Christians) has been recorded in our history books.
13:1-8 The beast with the seven heads and ten horns that rises out of the sea (of Satanically inspired misinterpretations of the scriptures) is another vision of the world-wide system based on the concept on national sovereignty. According the concept of national sovereignty, the commandment to love your neighbor as yourself applies only to those who happen to reside within the boarders of ones' own country. All those who reside outside of those man-made borders are "aliens", not neighbors (we might be called upon to fight a physical war against them someday). Jesus Christ "wounded" that beast during His ministry,. But it healed again as it crumbled the Roman Empire, and it inspired the real meaning of Christ's teachings be become "hidden" behind interpretations of the scriptures that were corrupted in order to make the concept of national sovereignty appear to be "holy" (as in those three "best sellers" mentioned in the introduction to this article).
The 42 months indicates that it has been around for a long time. The blasphemous statements that have been uttered for the sake of national sovereignty would be enough to fill a 30-volume encyclopedia. The very term "national sovereignty" is BLASHPEMOUS by God's standards! "It was permitted to make war on the saints and conquer them" . History has shown that over the centuries, most religious leaders have been more loyal to national sovereignty than to God, but evidently that was part of God's plan.
13:9-10 "He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword." Those who worship national sovereignty the most are usually the ones who end up paying the highest price for it in terms of human death and suffering (it's a vampire-like phenomenon). Those who put their trust in "H-bombs" (like the United States and Israel) are precisely the ones who are most likely to cease to exists for that very reason! Such is the nature of Satan's beast.
13:11-17 This two-horned beast is a relatively recent beast (proof that the time has come). It was created by man out of the earth (of mankind's perceptions of popular truths). This beast resulted from mankind's rejection of the "One-World Wilke" movement which sought the establishment of a true world government at the end of World War II. This two-horned beast also has an appearance of being "Godly", encouraging to people to follow the first beast and to sacrifice themselves like lambs for it. In actuality, it speaks with the voice of Satan. One horn represents the "freedom ideologies" as espoused by what we refer to these as "the western powers" (the United States, Great Britain, etc.). The other horn represents to the "equality ideologies" as espoused by the "Eastern Powers" (the former Soviet Union, Red China, etc.). Unlike the first beast, these two types of ideologies came of the "earth" of mankind's perceptions of popular truths, rather than from the "sea" satanically inspired misinterpretations of the scriptures. Within just a few years after World War II ended, this two-horned beast has created "images" of itself within the national sovereignty system (two Germanies, two Chinas, two Koreas, and two Vietnams). Each of the "horns" of this beast strongly encouraged the people in those divided countries to worship their own respective definitions of what their "national sovereignty" should be. Those who refused to worship one brand of "national sovereignty" or the other were often killed for that very reason. The insurgency problems created by this two-horned beast got so bad in South Vietnam, that one of the proposals for "solving" the problem was to tatoo all of them to make it easier to track their movements and thereby identify which of the Vietnamese were really "bad guys". Part of that idea was to only allow those who had been properly tatooed to buy or sell anything. As far as I know, such a proposal was never actually implemented, but in many parts of the world, passports and identification cards are often used for similar purposes (for the sake of those conceptual beasts).
13:18 This verse presents another guessing game to encourage the reader to seek to learn the true identify of this two-horned beast. As pointed out above, this is a man-made beast, created in 1945 by men who should have known better. The number 666 symbolically represents a man-made concept (not a physical person) that has become deified (i.e. the "religion" of national sovereignty in its idolized form).
[I suspect that if you check the ancient Greek recordings of St. John's Book of Revelations, you'll find that this interpretation fits better than the more commonly known English translations, because it was uncharacteristic for Jesus to define people as his enemies.]
14:1-5 This vision shows a substantial number of people (represented by 144,000) who have joined the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders in Heaven (mankind's perceptions of God). They are giving the honor and glory of God's blessings to God (rather than giving credit for God's blessings to the concept of national sovereignty as those Satanically inspired misinterpretations of the scriptures have been doing). They are following God's two most fundamental commandments and using Christ's double-edged sword of truth wherever necessary. As far as God is concerned, once they repented and started following His two most fundamental commandments, all of their past sins were forgiven.
14:6-13 The three angels represent those religious leaders who will come out against the concept of national sovereignty after the seven trumpeters have sounded for a while. These represent the remaining three of the ten horns on the bloody beast who have finally opened their eyes to the Word of God. Once again, the fire and sulfur represent Christ's double-edged sword of truth, and the smoke represents the evil that will be revealed by the application of that sword of truth. Blame for the bloodshed created by the national sovereignty system will eternally rest on the heads of those who have worshipped national sovereignty, unless they "die" as followers of national sovereignty and become "born again" living as followers of God. Those who die physically before this happens will no longer have an opportunity to escape this condemnation both from God and from all future generations of mankind.
14:14-20 The two angels with the sickles are God's to "witnesses" from Chapter 11 who are now in Heaven. They are using their single-edged sickles to remind our religious leaders of the massive bloodshed that has resulted because they allowed mankind to MISUSE God's two most fundamental commandments. The blood that has been shed due to the SEPARATE use of those two commandments would fill a 200 mile river up to a horses bridle. [It's such an important point, it bears repeating.]
15:1 These angles, who are about to cast the seven bowls of God's wrath upon the earth, will be doing basically the same thing as the seven trumpeters, but with one significant difference. The seven trumpeters represent various religious leaders and organizations who will come out against national sovereignty individually; not necessarily at the same time (and not necessarily waiting to "see what others think"). The will recognize what God wants them to do, put their faith in the Kingdom of God as taught by Jesus Christ, and do what God leads them to do. In this verse, however, the angels with the bowls are "vast and awe-inspiring". This means that many in the world will already recognize what they are about to do. The emptying of the seven bowls of God's wrath represents a well-coordinated effort by very well known religions leaders who by now are taking God's two most fundamental commandments SERIOUSLY! They will probably use world-wide radio and television coverage to deal a fatal blow to the concept of national sovereignty "in a single hour". The trumpeters will have paved the way for this fatal blow.
15:2-3 This indicates that most or perhaps all of the trumpeters will be included in this final showdown. They will give glory to God.
15:4 This verse says in effect that the meaning of God's covenant with mankind has now be made clear to everyone. Only God is holy (or sacred), and His two most fundamental commandments are to be used to evaluate EVERYTING-no exceptions, no limitations, NO MORE LIMITED LIGHTS!
15:5-8 The description of these angels in "spotless shining linen" indicates that they have been completely forgiven of their past sins in the eyes of God. The description of one of the four living creatures giving them bowls of God's wrath indicates that these angels are likewise looking at concepts, looking at their results, and evaluating those results according to God's two most fundamental commandments. They will expose even more of Satan's "smoke" than that which has been revealed in this commentary.
16:1-2 The first angel will pour God's wrath onto the "earth" (mankind's perceptions of popular truths). He (or she) will show how the worship of national sovereignty has created "ulcers and diseases" in the minds and bodies of people all over the world.
16:3 The second angel will pour God's wrath onto the sea (mankind's Satanically inspired misinterpretations of the scriptures). He (or she) will show how mankind's misuse of those scriptures has turned God's love into a fuel for massive bloodshed.
16:4-7 The third angel will pour God's wrath on certain past teachings of the churches (rivers and springs). He (or she) will show how those teachings have polluted mankind's thinking and produced bloody results.
16:8-9 The fourth angel will pour God's wrath on the churches' misconceptions regarding the meaning of the first of God's two most fundamental commandments (the "sun"). He (or she) will show that by limiting God to the realm of the "supernatural" in people's minds, whenever the churches attempted to use Gods "heat" for Godly purposes, most people simply wouldn't believe the "heat." They would blaspheme God, refuse to repent, and not give glory to the image of a "supernatural" God that was being presented to them. God may occasionally do things that appear to us mortals to be "supernatural", but to limit our perception of God to the realm of the "supernatural" is to do God a GREAT injustice. GOD is REAL just as TRUTH and LOVE are REAL! Claiming that there is no such thing as God is like claiming there is no such thing as reality, or no such thing a love! If you follow God's two most fundamental commandments, He will guide you with greater precision for his purposes than any human on earth could ever guide you.
16:10-11 The fifth angel will empty God's wrath of darkness on "the throne of the beast." This is referring to the present United Nations organization which was established in 1945 to "ensure a lasting peace". Instead, it has served as a "throne" to enshrine and glorify the very cause of war, the concept of national sovereignty. The organizational structure and procedures of the United Nations were founded upon false prophesies (as anyone can see by looking at the number of wars that have erupted since 1945). In fairness to many of the employees of the United Nations, it should be noted that most of them have been doing the best they can to follow the commandment to love their neighbors as themselves (without imposing restrictions on their definition of neighbor). But the organization they are working in, although better than nothing, is nevertheless hopelessly inadequate for meeting its stated missions. This angel will tell the people of the world to regard the United Nations as if doesn't even exist (blot it out with darkness), and instead seek the establishment of a true world government that REALLY WILL meets such stated (godly) missions. Establishing a true world government would have to be worked out among the political leaders of the world (once the people of the world make it clear to their political leaders that they no longer want to bet their own futures and their childrens' futures on the bloody whims of the international anarchy known as "the national sovereignty system"). It they attempted to use the present structures and procedures of the United Nations for this purpose, it would probably never get done. No doubt, this will hurt the feelings (and destroy the credibility) of many who have enjoyed basking in the honor and glory which national sovereignty has provided for them; they may even resort to blaspheming God in attempts to rebut such arguments.
16:12-14 The sixth angel will pour God's wrath on the past lies and censorship practices (Satan's River Euphrates) of our national and international new agencies. This will cause such lying and censoring for the sake of national sovereignty to completely "dry up" allowing the "Kings of the East" (actually kings of the rising "sun") to expose (among other things) the following BIG LIES that have been coming out of the mouths of Satan, the seven-headed national sovereignty beast, and the two-horned "freedom" vs. "equality" beast.
Lie #1: All we have to do is set a good example and encourage other nations to obey "international law" (without any effective internal law enforcement agency), and there will be lasting peace. In those areas where "international law" is a bit weak, we can patch it up with "treaties."
[Oh yea? Look what's happened throughout the world since 1945! And yet, the voice of Satan keeps claiming that their is going to be "Peace, Peace" when there is no peace.]
Lie #2: We must maintain our national sovereignty in order to preserve our personal freedoms (as if such personal freedoms could not also be preserved in the context of a true world government).
[More often than not, "protecting national security" (sovereignty) is the excuse governments use to DENY personal freedoms to people].
Lie #3: There is a great disparity between the rich and the poor of the world, and a true world government would keep it that way. We need to retain our national military organizations, so that we can use violent means, when necessary in order to bring about needed changes.
[This lie appears to be believable, only because our religious leaders have failed so far to obey BOTH of God's two most fundamental commandments TOGETHER.]
16:15 This verse is a warning from Christ to stay alert so that you will recognize the World of God (the truth revealed by God's two most fundamental commandments) whenever such truth comes to you. I sent such truths to numerous leaders of Christianity in the 1970s and 1980s. Obviously, they have been caught "standing naked" in the eyes of God!
16:16 This verse indicates that various heads of state may attempt to rebut the wrath of God using arguments such as the three BIG LIES described above. They may even gather some place (referred to as "Armageddon") to present their views via international television. They will lose.
16:17 The seventh angel will pour God's wrath onto the air which has been so clouded with Satan's smoke screen of lies that mankind's perception of Heaven has been seriously dimmed. So much for that smoke!
16:18-19 This united attack on national sovereignty and other ungodly concepts by the world's religious leaders will create the greatest "earthquake" in mankind's perceptions of popular truths that the world has ever seen. Mankind's faith in such things as "H-bombs", the United Nations, and national military organizations for preserving "peace" will crumble (great "mountains" of worldly beliefs will vanish! Islands of half-truths will flee). Great hailstones of God's love will fall from the sky so hard it hurts. But still, some will be resentful and will curse God for having exposed their lies.
17:1-5 At this point, St. John is given a vision which shows all this from a somewhat different perspective. The purpose of this vision is to provide more clues to aid in properly identifying the root cause of problems such as war, massive starvation, and an inexcusable inequality between the rich and the poor. Actually, it was this vision that first helped me to recognize that St. John was talking about the concept of national sovereignty. The scarlet Harlot called "Babylon the Great" represents the world's present day religious organizatons that CLAIM to represent God or Jesus Christ but are in fact prostituting the Ten Commandments and the teachings of Jesus Christ to idolatrous spirit of "national sovereignty." She is the Satanic opposite of the spiritual "Bride of Christ" described in Rev 19:8. The "Babylon" symbolism refers all that way back to the "Tower of Babel" parable in Genesis 11:1-9. The bloody beast upon which the Harlot is riding is her physical manifestation (the national sovereignty system itself) portrayed in this vision over time. The "names of blasphemy" which fill the beast are the idols and distorted perceptions of God which have resulted (since the days of Babel) from mankind's use of criteria OTHER than God's two most fundamental commandments. Any form of "sovereignty" (e.g. "US sovereignty", "British soverignty", "corporate sovereignty", etc.) is BLASPHEMOUS from God's point of view. St. John is challenging his readers to ask, "what is it that has all of these characteristics?"
[Babel was originally established by Nimrod, a "mighty hunter before the Lord". When the citizens of Babel attempted to "make a name for themselves" by building an earthly "tower to reach Heaven" (i.e. a man-made perception of God built from mankind's ever-changing [and unguided] worldly perceptions of popular truths) they found that that by doing so, they lost their ability to understand each other and ended up being "scattered all over the face of the earth" (each group following their own misperceptio(s) of God(s)). Use of the plural "Come, Let us..." in Genesis 11:7 is no accident--it's one of major points regarding mankind's distorted perceptions God which that parable was designed to make! Another major point was that by following their own guidance rather than God's, they ended up producing precisely the kind of disaster that they were supposedly trying to prevent!]
17:6-11 If you are located within the rule of the Roman Empire, as St. John was when he wrote the Book of Revelation, the age-old national sovereignty beast would appear to be something which "once was, presently is not, but soon will be again" before it is finally destroyed. The "seven mountains" upon which the Harlot sits may be former empires (Babylonian, Media-Persian, Macedonian, Roman, Holy Roman, colonial system, ideological [communist vs captalist] sytem, and present national sovereignty system) or they may be seven ideological forms which the concept that we now call "national sovereignty" has taken over time (family sovereignty, tribal sovereignty, city sovereignty, royal sovereignty, imperial sovereignty, colonial sovereignty, ideological sovereignty, and now the eighth--national sovereignty). The depiction "There are also seven kings five who have been dethroned, one who rules, and another not yet appeared" illustrates the turbulent nature of the national sovereignty system. The angel predicts that the national sovereignty system itself will eventually become an "eighth king" which may be symbolized by the United Nations, an organization which was supposedly going to "rule over nations" but which was designed to be subordinated to the concept of national sovereignty which still belongs to the present "kings" of the earth. This is further proof that the time has come for the second coming of Christ.
17:12-14 The ten horns represent apostate religious leaders (with their eyes closed) who have been tagging along for a ride on the national sovereignty beast. And, according to God's plan, they have been "of one mind" with the beast until mankind acquired the technology needed to successfully operate a true world government under God's guidance. Perhaps one reason God planned it this way was that mankind had some serious lessons to learn (like the importance of using God's two most fundamental commandments TOGETHER) before God would permit mankind to form a true world government. Once God's Spirit of truth and love conquers those religious leaders and gets them to fully accept those lessons, then God will allow them become "kings for an hour" to battle against "Babylon the Great."
17:15-17 In these verses, the angel is predicting that the efforts of those religious leaders will be so successful that many heads of state will also join with them in denouncing the concept of national sovereignty. When they are done, the popularity (spirit) of that bloody concept will be utterly destroyed in the minds of the present generation and all future generations of mankind.
17:18 Here's another hint. The national sovereignty system can also be viewed as a "city" or "institution" that rules the world.
18:1-3 This angel is the "witness" representing the first of God's two most fundamental commandments. "Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become a habitation of demons, a prison for every foul spirit, and a cage for every unclean and hated bird." Once again, this symbolism comes from Genesis 1. The truth revealed by this angel is that the concept of national sovereignty is obsolete ("fallen"); it can no longer be justified in the light of reality-indeed, it relies heavily on lies and censorship for its continued existence.
18:4-8 The voice from Heaven is the voice of God, God's two most fundamental commandments combined. God is instructing us to come out for our loyalty to the concept of national sovereignty so as not to be blamed for the massive bloodshed that has been created by ungodly idol. He is also telling us to pay that "Mighty Babylon" back double with the fire of God's wrath for the lies and unjustified hatreds which it has created. We must REMOVE ALL DOUBT from people's minds everywhere that worshipping national sovereignty is a SIN that has been causing the deaths of millions of people each year!
18:9-10 This series of verses describes the reactions that many people will have whey they see their beloved national sovereignty idol so successfully consumed by the fire of God's wrath.
18:20 This verse describes the angels in Heaven rejoicing, because after all the long centuries, God has finally pronounced His judgment on that bloody concept.
18:21-24 This angel, which is the "witness" representing the second of God's two most fundamental commandments, throws the millstone of national sovereignty into what's left of the "sea" (of mankind's satanically inspired misinterpretations of the scriptures) and re-affirms the fact that future generations of mankind will find it difficult to understand how we could have loved that bloody idol so much!
19:1-5 These verses show further rejoicing, because of God's pronouncement of judgment against the concept of national sovereignty.
19:6-9 These verses predict that once the bloody idol of national sovereignty has been destroyed, mankind will form a true world government that will conform (for the most part) to the guidance of God's two most fundamental commandments (used together). In the context of a true world government, the various denominations of Christianity and Judaism will become one with Christ (the Lamb), and all their past sins will be forgiven. The "bride" represents a world-wide church (the "New Jerusalem") that institutionally corresponds to the spiritual Kingdom of God. This church will evaluate or help evaluate all concepts relative to both of Gods two most fundamental commandments and use Christ's double-edged sword of truth to destroy the popularity of those concepts that are found to be ungodly by those standards.
[Even after the second coming of Christ, this "New Jerusalem" church will have plenty of work to do dealing with the ever-changing foibles of mankind.]
19:9-10 This vision reveals an important point. We should worship God, not people. Those who function as messengers for God ("angels") are merely servants of God; they can never be substitutes for God.
19:11-19 These verses describe the second coming of Christ as a conquering Spirit who will spiritually rule the world in the context of a true world government (rod of iron). The description of Christ as being "dressed is a cloak dipped in blood" refers to how our religions leaders will accept the blame for the bloody consequences of the national sovereignty idol and the "freedom" and "equality" ideologies, because they really could have prevented most of that bloodshed simply by telling the truth (and not misrepresenting God to the people of the world). For a while, the "kings of the earth" will resist by using the same old lies and false prophesies that have been repeatedly disproven over the years. But Christ's double-edged sword of truth will prevail. The national sovereignty system and the "freedom" vs. "equality" false ideologies will exist only in our history books. Many other ungodly concepts will become things of the past as well.
20:1 At this point, St. John digresses for a while to show what will ultimately happen to Satan. When the true world government is established, thereby permitting the establishment of Christ's vision of a "New Jerusalem" on earth, Satan will be locked up in his pit for 1,000 years.
20:4-6 The various religious denominations will review their historical records to determine who among their congregations had been true representatives of God. These true representatives will be resurrected in Heaven (mankind's perception of God) and will share in God's glory.
20:7-10 Quite a long time ("1,000 years") after the establishment of a true world government under God on earth, religious leaders will become apostate again, failing to follow both of God's two most fundamental commandments. This will permit Satan to come back up out of the pit and inspire a large number of followers to create a bloody anarchy within the true world government. However, followers of God will re-discover Christ's double-edged sword of truth and use it to tear Satan's arguments to shreds. This time, the church and mankind will have learned God's lessons forever, and Satan will be tortured in the fire and sulfur of God's two most fundamental commandments forever more.
20:11-15 Now, getting back to where we were, those who are now recognized to have been true followers of God will share in God's glory, but those who in retrospect turned out to be false prophets will be "burned" in the fire and sulfur of God's truth. Other ungodly concepts which caused spiritual and physical death will be discarded as well. Mankind's perceptions of "Death and Hades" will be discarded, because the church (the "New Jerusalem") will no longer need to use such concepts to scare people into believing in a limited "supernatural" image of God. Once the church starts teaching mankind how to follow and use God's two most fundamental commandments properly, the need (and rewards) for following those two commandments will become obvious.
["Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he WHO DOES THE WILL OF My Father in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'" (Matthew 7:21-23)]
21:1-8 Those who claim to interpret the Bible "literally" are at a loss to explain what Jesus meant when he told his disciples, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but by words will not pass away." (Matthew 24:35) These verses explain what Jesus meant. After the destruction of the popularity of national sovereignty, there will be a new "Heaven" (mankind's former perceptions of a limited "supernatural" God will pass away). There will also be a new "earth" (mankind's perceptions of popular truths will be cleansed). The "sea" (of Satanically inspired misinterpretations of the scriptures) will be no more. As a true world government become established (from the top down), the various religious denominations and millions of new followers of God will unite to form the "New Jerusalem" envisioned by Jesus. The man-made doctrines which had been developed by the various denominations to distinguish themselves from one another (blades of grass, green things, and trees of knowledge that grew out of the old "earth") will all be evaluated for conformance with BOTH of God's two most fundamental commandments. Those which fail to pass that test will be discarded. There will always be differing opinions among various church groups, but these differences will be continually be evaluated according to those two commandments (as opposed to viewing them as being "absolute truths"). It won't take long for them to agree with God when He says, "See, I make all things new".
21:9-27 As a result of the procedure described above, the "New Jerusalem" will end up being designed and guided by God Himself! The twelve tribes of Israel will share in God's glory, and so will the twelve apostles of Jesus. The size of this "New Jerusalem" will be magnificently greater than the "Temple of God" that was measured in Chapter 10. This "New Jerusalem" will be beautiful in the eyes of God and mankind, much more beautiful that the old closed "Temple of Heaven" which was limiting the effectiveness of the Word of God with so many ungodly distinctions. The "New Jerusalem" will no longer need the of old concepts symbolized by the "sun" and "moon" (representing the churches' limited and separate use of God's two most fundamental commandments). Instead, the Light will be provided by God's two most fundamental commandments TOGETHER. The nations will be guided by this new light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. This "New Jerusalem" will be open to anybody to seeks to follow God's two most fundamental commandments together. Those who claim to be "of God" while dealing in filthiness and lies will not be permitted to get away with such conduct any more.
22:1-5 Once the "New Jerusalem" has purged out all of the ungodly concepts and distinctions that have been limiting the effectiveness of our present religious denominations, its teachings will be as pure as crystal clear water. For nearly 1,000 years, their teachings will ALWAYS conform with both of God's two most fundamental commandments. Those teachings will bear Godly fruits (results) all year around and will heal the wounds of the nations (note that the nations will NOT "cease to exist" under this new political and religious arrangement). The ungodly concepts that cursed mankind will be discarded. Both God and Christ will be honored. God's servants will "see His face" (understand how to follow God and how to perceive his revelations). There will be no more need for the limited lamp lights of the denominations or for the sunlight (the first of God's two most fundamental commandments considered by itself). The Light of God's truth and love will in effect be ruling the world.
22:6-7 This is REALLY GOOD NEWS for mankind!
22:8-9 We are once again reminded to worship God, not people.
22:10 Here the angel tells St. John not to keep this Book of Revelation to himself, but to send it to the churches, even though the time had not yet come for the fulfillment of these prophesies.
22:12-16 Jesus Christ is saying here that this second coming of Christ will (and should) happen quickly, although as you can see from the previous visions, Christ's victory certainly won't be achieved "overnight" (it might actually take "42 months"). There will no doubt be some who will NEVER become part of it.
22:17 "And the Spirit and the bride say, 'Come'. And let him who hears say, 'Come.' And whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely." They are inviting you to participate in the second coming of Christ!
22:18-10 These verses contain warnings which appear to have succeeded in preserving the wording of the Book of Revelation fairly well over the centuries. As you can see, these revelations really do original from God Himself. They make very good sense when viewed for the point of view of God's two most fundamental commandments.
22:21-22 So be it. Let you sins be forgiven by letting God be your guide.
Now, as you can see, God's two most fundamental commandments are not only the KEY to understanding St. John's Book of Revelation, the entire book is ABOUT God's two most fundamental commandments! In fact, if you follow the study steps I suggested in the introduction to this article, you will soon realize that the entire Holy Bible is primarily ABOUT God's two most fundamental commandments! Deadly false prophets like Jim Jones and David Koresh could never have attracted any followings if our religious leaders had been teaching the people of the world about the importance of following both of God's two most fundamental commandments.
The second coming of Christ has already begun. Christ's victory in the "battle of Armageddon" will happen whenever our religious leaders decide to MAKE it happen!
Now that you know what the "second coming of Christ" REALLY means, what should you do?
St. John's Book of Revelation recommends that you write to the churches and religious denominations all over the world. You can forward copies of this commentary to them and to anyone else who you think might be inclined to take God's two most fundamental commandments seriously.
Ask our best known religious leaders, "Why are you attempting to hide from God?" "Are they knowingly rejecting the second coming of Christ?"
Stop wasting your religious donations on those who claim to represent God but are in fact teaching Satanically inspired misinterpretations of the scriptures (or are in other ways using God's name in vain). Do as Jesus did and use Christ's double-edged sword of TRUTH to debunk their claims about representing God. There is no need to attempt to censor their arguments; all you need to do is make their followers aware that such arguments are NOT inspired by God. You don't need to be an "ordained minister" to recognize how that if our limit your financial support to those religious leaders and organizations who ARE seeking to follow and abide by both of God's two most fundamental commandments, you'll be using you money far more effectively to protect your own future and as well as the future for your children.
See if you can convince one or more news agencies to stop practicing censorship in order to protect the concept of national sovereignty from being exposed to God's "Light of Day".
Remember, you can help save MILLIONS HUMAN LIVES PER YEAR by simply telling the truth!
Seek and you shall find,
(one grain of salt)
