The most important lessons of 2002
Our government still wants to gamble American lives on teachings of Satan. (Nov-Dec 02)
1. Regarding the issue of war: The ultimate moral depravity of our government's present policies is so classically predictable, that it's been a recurring theme among writers throughout recorded history. Consider the 2nd chapter of Matthew, for example.
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him." When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. So they said to him, "In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet: 'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are not the least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you shall come a Ruler who will shepherd My people Israel.' " Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, determined from them what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and search diligently for the young Child, and when you have found Him, bring back word to me, that I may come and worship Him also."
When they heard the king, they departed; and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way.
Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, "Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him." When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt, and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, "Out of Egypt I called My Son."
Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men. Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying: "A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted, because they are no more." But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying, "Arise, take the young Child and His mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the young Child's life are dead."
Then he arose, took the young Child and His mother, and came into the land of Israel.
But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea instead of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there. And being warned by God in a dream, he turned aside into the region of Galilee. And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, "He shall be called a Nazarene."
(from the New King James Version of the Bible)
Thus "Herod the Great" became condemned by God and all future generations of mankind as a paranoid liar and mass murderer. Furthermore, in spite of his awesome powers at that time, King Herod's attempt at "preemptive deterrence" utterly FAILED to achieve his objective! Such are the ways of Satan, the ways that are presently being followed by the administration of President George W. Bush.
It has now become quite evident that our present Bush Administration is:
a. "Itching" to start a war in Iraq, even though the UN weapons inspectors have so far failed to find any tangible evidence to support the "weapons of mass destruction" allegations that the Bush Administration has been using to "morally justify" such a war. This is reminiscent of Hitler's invasion of Poland, which Hitler "justified" based on "trumped up charges." Such a war could easily cost the lives of tens of thousands of Americans and over a million Iraqis within this coming year.
b. Willing to use our own government's nuclear arsenal to retaliate against whomever it unilaterally deems responsible for using "weapons of mass destruction" against the United States.
c. Seriously risking the creation of another Korean War by acting to cut off oil supplies to North Korea (again for reasons that appear to have been "trumped up"). It was a similar US-led cutoff of oil supplies to Japan that led to the Japanese decision to attack Pearl Harbor in 1941. Actions like that are clearly inspired by Satan; they do NOT conform to God's commandment to love your neighbors as ourselves!
Who besides weapons manufacturers and undertakers are likely to benefit from such policies?
2. Regarding the issue of diseases and economic disparities throughout the world: Although medical advancements have created remarkably successful treatments (though not yet cures) for various forms of AIDS, less than two percent of the tens of millions of people throughout the world who are victims of AIDS can afford such treatments. The increasing spread of diseases throughout the world is primarily a reflection of economic disparities between the rich and the poor (although the rich are far from immune to catching such diseases). If the amount of money the Bush Administration has budgeted to fund its corporate welfare program for defense contractors known as the "National Missile Defense System", tens of millions of lives would be saved and the disparities between the rich and the poor would be reduced to some extent (which would be good news for American businesses in general). It is highly unlikely that the Bush Administrations' beloved "National Missile Defense System" will ever save any lives. In fact, it is highly unlikely that there will ever be a need for such a system to be used.
3. Regarding America's economy: As I predicted at the end of last year, 2002 turned out to be a dismal year for America's economy, and it was not simply due to the scandalous behavior of many of our nation's highest-paid corporate executives. Our economy would have been even worse were it not for the extraordinary efforts of "the Fed" to lower prime lending rates, but there is little more that the Fed can do in that regard. In the meantime, the Bush Administration's deficit spending practices have been increasingly adding to our national debt, and that rate will accelerate substantially if the Bush Administration succeeds in starting a new war in Iraq or Korea. There are already indications that (as happened under the Carter Administration) both inflation and unemployment are beginning to rise above their normal rates. As was the case last year, such outcomes are predictable consequences of the kinds of policies and practices presently being employed by the Bush Administration.
CONCLUSION: The world's present "national sovereignty system" is not only obsolete; it is downright dangerous for EVERYBODY (including American citizens at home and abroad)! What the world needs is a CIVILIZED approach to solving such problems (i.e. the establishment of a true world government to effectively deal with such problems on a world-wide scale). MOST American businesses would benefit tremendously from such an approach. But the Bush Administration has instead been following the "logic of national sovereignty" by employing a loose-cannon-superpower approach that will inevitably lead to large-scale bloodshed and still not fundamentally solve any of the problems described above. Unfortunately for everyone, our political leaders in the Democratic Party have dismally failed to offer the American people a viable alternative to such approach. The Democratic Party paid for such shortsightedness in last November's elections. Not since John F. Kennedy have we had a President with the vision and the guts needed to realistically solve the kinds of problems created by the slow-moving but DEADLY anarchy known as the "national sovereignty system." It's actually pretty clear what needs to be done in this regard. The question no is WHO is willing to offer the American people a realistic, civilized approach to solving these increasingly grave problems that are confronting us!
