The Lies of the Bush Administraton
The Price of Tolerating Dishonesty (Jul 03)
Evidently, George W. Bush and various other high ranking members of his administration still believe that they can fool most of the people most of the time by continuing to lie to cover up their earlier lies. Fortunately, more and more of our print media have finally begun to expose the extraordinary dishonesty of this administration, though often in a rather timid manner. In his 28 July 2003 Time Magazine article "How Bush Misleads Himself", Joe Klein suggests that this is "an aspect of George W. Bush's essential character-specifically the problem he has with telling the truth. I'm not saying that Bush is a liar. Lying is writing, 'I did not have sexual relations with that woman.' This is weirder than that. The President seems to believe that wishing will make it so-and he is so stupendously incurious that he rarely makes an effort to find the truth of a matter. He misleads not only the nation but himself."
I'm not sure which is worse: having a President who deliberately lies and knows that he is doing so, or having a President who is mentally incapable of "maintaining a grip on reality." As for myself, I believe George W. Bush is well aware that he has been lying (blatantly) about Iraq and many other issues since be became President, because most of his key advisors have been uttering such lies as well. As I pointed out in earlier articles on this web site, using BIG LIE propaganda tactics was a key feature of their political campaign last fall, and those tactics worked well for them, because most of our nation's news agencies (and most of our Democrats in Congress) lacked the guts to challenge their credibility. And it's still happening, even now. For example, when Secretary of State Colin Powell boldly claimed during his trip to Africa, "There was no effort or attempt on the part of the president or anyone else in the administration to mislead or deceive the American people...", he was lying-and he KNEW that he was lying! But, as far as I've been able to determine, I'm the first person to point out the fact that he was lying.
If someone were to attempt to write a book called "The Lies of the G. W. Bush Administration", it would probably end up being published in two or more volumes! So if they are lying, what difference does it make? Well, for one thing, we have soldiers being killed or wounded every day in Iraq now, because the Bush Administration was allowed to get away with such lies over the past year or so. And George W. Bush has himself become the deadliest man of this century, having killed far more men, women, and children in this century than Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden combined! Such are the ways of Satan--deadly fruits!
I John 4:20 (NKJ)
If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?
