An Immiment (2007) Scenario for a Nuclear War

Also, an area where you don't need a research staff in order to easily recognize a bold-faced liar. (Jan 07)

Let's first examine some "short-term" observations about our present state of the world.

In 2006, our nation's mainstream media finally began acknowledging the fact that they have been "loosing readership", because they lost so much of their credibility during their enthusiastic support for (and embellishment of) the Bush Administration's dishonest efforts to sell their plan to invade and occupy Iraq. Millions of Americans are increasingly relying on internet agencies like truthout.org to keep informed about what's really happening in the world, because such organizations aren't as beholding to the promotion of "corporate interests" when it comes to deciding what stories to cover and how to cover them in a fair and truthful manner. In addition to the numerous Bush Administration errors and failures in Iraq, this seismic shift in news sources along with the recently acquired (and long-overdue) willingness of Democrats to call right-wing propagandists liars (and prove the charge) have turned out to be among the most important factors that enabled the Democratic Party to attract enough votes to assume control of both Houses of Congress this year.

Another popular source for viewing pertinent information, research, and perspectives regarding issues that our mainstream news agencies prefer not to touch has been video documentaries like "Terror Storm, a History of Government Sponsored Terrorism." This documentary exposes the nature and frequency of use of "Black Flag" terror/propaganda operations whereby terrorist attacks are planned and executed by one government or group in such a way as to appear to have been perpetrated by another government or group, thereby providing a political excuse for the actual perpetrators to commence military operations against that other government or group. Examples of some of the Black Flag operations described in this documentary include Hitler's staged "Operation Himler" attack on a German radio station which was then used to justify Germany's invasion of Poland, President Lyndon Johnson's falsely alleged North Vietnamese attack against a US destroyer in the Gulf of Ton Kin which he used to convince Congress to support a huge escalation in US military involvement in Vietnam (a war that accomplished little more than the killing over 50,000 Americans along with over 1,500,000 Vietnamese), and Lyndon Johnson's botched scheme with the Israeli government during their "six-day war" to sink the USS Liberty (one of our own Naval spy ships with "all hands on board") which he had hoped to use to justify a US military "takeover the entire Middle East." I found this to be an especially interesting revelation, because that three-hour Israeli attack on the USS Liberty and the extraordinary secrecy requirements imposed thereafter on the USS Liberty's survivors had never made any sense to me--until now.

Finally, this documentary presents considerable evidence to support their theory that the terrorist attacks on 9/11 may also have been a Black Flag operation perpetrated either by our own government or perhaps by a rogue group within our own government. As we well know now, that incident was used by the Bush Administration to justify it's absurd "War on Terrorism" (a never-ending war against a concept the cannot possibly be killed), along with our government's military invasions in Afghanistan and Iraq, and it's extra-legal military operations in other parts of the world (like the "regime change" war that Bush started recently without Congressional authorization in Somalia). In the 25 Dec 06 edition of The Nation, Christopher Hayes poo poos such conspiracy theories regarding 9/11 and then wonders, "If millions of Americans really believe that their government was complicit in the murder of 3,000 of their fellow citizens, they seem remarkably sanguine about this fact." My own answer to his wondering in this regard is that unlike many in the Bush Administration, most Americans are law-abiding citizens who have faith in the rule of law and are therefore willing to let our legal system eventually get this all sorted out (and properly dealt with). They have faith that the whole truth will eventually be revealed, as has happened regarding the USS Liberty incident in spite of the extraordinary secrecy requirements that our government attempted to impose.

What I find most astonishing in this documentary is their claim that NONE of the names of the alleged 9/11 terrorists actually appear on the passenger manifests of those four ill-fated flights. If such a significant fact is true, then why are we finally learning about this now? The authors of this documentary even claim that some of the 19 alleged terrorists are not only alive and living in Saudi Arabia, they have actually been interviewed there. Of course, the people they interviewed may turn out to have been other people who had the same names, but this documentary implies otherwise, perhaps based on those interviews.

Our government's own history of conducting Black Flag operations has made such claims about its involvement in the 9/11 attacks at least plausible, even if not entirely credible (yet). That grim history also lends plausibility to a theory that the Bush/Cheney Team may be deliberately "bottling up" two of our Navy's carrier groups in the Persian Gulf where they will be like "sitting ducks" for Iran's anti-ship missile systems (which are mobile, easily concealed, GUIDED, and deployed along Iran's 400 miles or so of Persian Gulf coastline). If the Iranians defensively sink many of our Navy's ships in the Persian Gulf in response to an attack by US or Israeli aircraft on their alleged "nuclear bomb" facilities, the theory is the Bush/Cheney Team would then feel "morally justified" to use of nuclear weapons against the rest of Iran's suspected nuclear facilities (and cities). That, of course, could easily trigger a worldwide nuclear holocaust involving Russia and China as well. One of the panel members on the above video documentary claims that the Bush Administrations has in fact been planning to launch a nuclear weapons attack against Iran anyway, but they would prefer to have another 9/11-like excuse to help justify it. When one considers the blatant dishonesty that has been demonstrated by the Bush/Cheney Team so far, and their general lack of concern for human life as well as the rule of law, this theoretical scenario for nuclear war is at least plausible, and perhaps even inevitable (unless we defuse this scenario by removing our aircraft carrier fleets from the Persian Gulf).

Now let's consider some other (perhaps longer-term) observations that our nation's mainstream news agencies have traditionally preferred not to address:

It's important to note that although it took various dedicated staffs of (presumably paid full-time) researchers to find, compile, analyze, and report on the observations described above, there is nevertheless one area where you can determine almost immediately whether or not a person is lying to you simply by looking at the points that they are attempting to convey. This area pertains to anyone who either claims to represent Jesus Christ or who claims to represent God as revealed to us by Jesus Christ. That is because Jesus Christ had two irrefutable standards. His entire ministry hinged around the intersection of truth and love (in particular God's commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves--without placing any restrictions on our definition of neighbor). So if a person claims to represent Jesus Christ (or God as revealed by Jesus Christ) and appears to be telling the truth and is not teaching anything that violates God's commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves (without restrictions), then you can be confident that he (or she) is telling the truth in accordance with God's will (at least the truth as they see it at that time). But if they are NOT telling the truth, placing restrictions on their definition of "neighbor" or in any other way promoting violations of God's commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves, then you can be SURE that that person is not only a "pious fraud", but one who is satanically inspired as well. Satanic teachings are those which are either dishonest to begin with, which violate God's commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves, or both (which is most often the case). It really is that simple. You don't need a theological degree or a team of researchers in order to recognize such discrepancies. .

You may be thinking, "Well, that's a highly abstract way of looking at things..." Yes it is. That's why Jesus relied so heavily on using parables to help people to better understand his teachings. Following these principles of truth and love may appear to some to be conceptually equivalent to "walking on water", but it's actually more like "standing on a rock", because in the long run these two principles have ultimately prevailed throughout history and have contributed substantially to the advancement of civilization itself. Then you may say, "Well, if that's the case, then a LOT of what is being taught to people these days is not only satanically inspired, but immensely popular and often profitable as well." Yes, that is why so MANY millions of people are being violently killed, plagued to death, or starved to death throughout the world today. Consider these examples:

Let's examine the teachings of an enormously popular Pastor and televangelist named John Hagee, because he was featured in a two-hour History Channel documentary called "Countdown to Armageddon." Pastor Hagee summarizes his "beliefs" and teachings on his web site (http://www.jhm.org/pastor.asp). As I have pointed out in numerous earlier articles on my own web site (www.onesalt.com), the deadly discrepancies in Pastor Hagee's teachings that I will be pointing out are typical of those that can be found in most so-called "Christian Right" or "Christian Fundamentalist" web sites. Pastor Hagee is just one of MANY religious leaders who have been "profiting" by misleading people about the teachings of Jesus Christ.

In that History Channel documentary, the narrator says regarding the Bible, "Many believe it is about 'literal truth.' Pastor and televangelist John Hagee, Pastor of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Texas is very direct in preaching to his congregation that at any moment Jesus will call those who believe in him to 'depart from this world.'" Pastor Hagee is then shown as saying, "I don't believe they [the prophesies in Daniel, Revelation, etc.] are allegorical, I don't believe they are metaphoric. I believe they are factual. I believe that there WILL be four horsemen of the Apocalypse that will represent four different specific kinds of terror that will come upon the earth in rapid succession."

Evidently, Pastor Hagee has become so accustomed to getting his followers to believe his lies that he has no problem saying with a straight face that he believes in interpreting the scriptures "literally" and then immediately thereafter spouting his own allegorical interpretation of the four horsemen described in the Book of Revelation.

Such Orwellian "doublethink" is a typical example of HOW LITTLE concern America's right-wing "fundamentalist" preachers have for the truth. For them, the "truth" is whatever they decide to say it is, no matter how dishonest or satanically inspired their teachings may actually be. Sometimes their definition of "the truth" is in effect "whatever works to send money flying in their direction." But at other times, they may use allegorical interpretations of the scriptures to support their claim to be telling the "truth" in which case you need to determine whether or not their allegorical interpretations do in fact conform with God's commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves. Pastor Hagee's allegorical interpretation of the four horsemen above violates BOTH of Christ's truth and love standards, because he claims that those horses represent nothing more than "kinds of terror" that WILL occur someday, while in fact the kinds of wars, plagues, and injustices that those allegorical horsemen clearly represent are ALREADY occurring throughout many parts of the world today. These are problems that need to be addressed and resolved NOW, but Pastor Hagee is apparently teaching his followers to "walk by on the other side of the road" and wait for a "supernatural" solution for such problems to arrive.

If you check Pastor Hagee's web site (as of Jan 07), you'll see that his list of "beliefs" only addresses peripheral issues regarding Jesus Christ and His ministry. It also adds various doctrines that are clearly designed to maximize (as much as possible} the flow of money into his organization's bank account. CONSPICUOUSLY ABSENT from his list of beliefs is the fundamental premise upon which ALL of Jesus Christ's teachings were founded, that is the need to put ones faith in God's commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves (without putting restrictions on our definition of neighbor). This makes it easier for him to create and promote all sorts of satanically inspired (and misleadingly called "Christian") teachings without appearing to be hypocritical. Consider the following examples from Rev Hagee's website,

One of Pastor Hagee's stated "beliefs" is "We believe in the scripture as the inspired Word of God and that it is the complete revelation of God's will for mankind. We believe in the absolute authority of the scripture to govern the affairs of men."

This "belief" conflicts with John 1:1-3 which clearly shows that the Word of God as embodied in Jesus Christ existed long before any of the texts of the Bible were written. It also violates the first two of the Ten Commandments by creating an idol out of a set of writings created by men (and possibly some women) over a period of about a thousand years. The writings in the Bible contain an evolutionary history of mankind's understanding and perceptions of God and therefore include many teachings that are actually ungodly (like Psalm 137:9 "How blessed will be the one who seizes and dashes your little ones against the rock.") as well as many that were indeed inspired by God. Pastor Hagee's teaching that the entire Bible is an "absolute authority to govern the affairs of men" turns the Bible into an idolatrous market basket for "morally justifying" whatever good or evil deeds he happens to be promoting at the time. As we've been seeing in our news reports lately, in some parts of the world, radical Muslim clerics have been misusing the Koran in a similar manner. Many MILLIONS of men, women, and children have been brutally murdered over the past two millennia as a result of the kind of idolatrous misuse of religious scriptures that Pastor Hagee has been promoting. Jesus Christ taught, "You shall know them [wolves in sheep's clothing] by their fruits." Pastor Hagee's teachings in this regard are not only dishonest and misleading; they have historically proven to be VERY DEADLY! Historically, unlike Jesus Christ, religious leaders like Pastor Hagee have typically either personally advocated that people be killed in order to "solve" human relations problems or else advocated support for politicians who preferred to kill people in order to "solve" human relations problems.

Another of Pastor Hagee's stated "beliefs" is "We believe in the ordinance of water baptism by immersion in obedience to the Word of God. All those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior should be baptized in water as a public profession of their faith in Christ and to experience what the Bible calls the 'circumcision of the Spirit.'"

If by "obedience to the Word of God" he meant obedience to God's commandments to seek the truth and to love our neighbors as ourselves (with no restrictions), then this "belief" would make sense. But Pastor Hagee teaches that the "Word of God" is whatever he says it is, at least as long as he can find some literal or allegorical way of interpreting the scriptures in order to make them appear to support his point. Since, unlike Jesus Christ, Pastor Hagee clearly does NOT consider God's commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves to be a necessary criterion for developing his interpretations, his interpretations often end up being downright satanic. His use of the phrase "personal savior" (which cannot be found in the Bible) further reveals the essentially selfish (satanic) nature of his so-called "belief" above. Using the phrase "personal savior" is similar to the old Roman Catholic Church's practice of selling "indulgences" for money. That was one of the ungodly practices that inspired the Protestant Reformation. According to Matt 18:20, Jesus taught "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." So rather than focusing on a mere "personal forgiveness of sins", the salvation that Jesus promised is more like the COMMUNAL salvation from sins that will result when people start taking God's commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves SERIOUSLY! Pastor Hagee's promotion of the so-called "Rapture" theory of supernatural escapism is another example an attempt to profit by "selling" a doctrine of ideological selfishness.

In his section on supporting the government of Israel, Pastor Hagee presents an inaccurate and satanically misleading interpretation of the scriptures in order to support a claim that many Jews have made that all Palestinian lands rightfully belong to "the Jews" (only), because God "gave" that land to Jacob (a.k.a. Israel) and his descendants. But if you examine the scriptural source of that claim, Gen 35:11-12, you'll see it actually says that God told Jacob, "I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins; And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land." Notice that God predicted that the "promised land" would eventually belong (legitimately) to "a company of nations", NOT just one! Furthermore, Gen 38 shows that if it were not for an illicit sexual encounter between Jacob's son Judah and a Canaanite woman (Tamar), Judah's bloodline would have ended when he died and hence there would never have been any Jewish nation or any Jews for that matter. So theoretically, at least, all Jews who believe that they still have some trace of the blood of Judah in them must also have at least as much Canaanite blood in them as well. And ("ohmygosh") according to the Jewish tradition of tracing bloodlines through the female side to the family tree, the lands that God promised to Jacob's descendents must then legitimately belong to the present-day Palestinians who are descendants of those Canaanites! In actuality, DNA tests have shown that today's so-called "biological Jews" are genetically indistinguishable from today's "biological Palestinians." The differences between them have been determined by greedy (satanically inspired) ideologies--not by God or nature.

But nevertheless, Pastor Hagee attempts to further support his "Jews only" interpretation of those scriptures by claiming, "Jesus considered the Jewish people His family. Jesus said (Matthew 25:40) "Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren (the Jewish people... Gentiles were never called His brethren), ye have done it unto me."

To the contrary, in answer to the question "Who is my neighbor?" Jesus responded by telling his Good Samaritan parable where a Priest and then a Levite chose to "walk by on the other side of the road" rather help a man who had been beaten up by thieves. The hero of this parable turned out to be a Samaritan whom the Priests and Levites in those days typically excluded from their definition of "neighbor." Jesus' point in telling this parable is that God does NOT recognize or approve of the practice of placing restrictions on ones definition of neighbor!

Then Pastor Hagee cites the instance where Jesus healed the servant of a Roman centurion without actually meeting that servant. According to Pastor Hagee, Jesus did that because although he was a Gentile, that centurion had been kind to the Jews and had even built a synagogue for them (Luke 7:5). But Jesus Himself provided a different explanation for why He did this. According to the authors of Matthew and Luke, Jesus was favorably impressed with the extraordinary faith which that centurion had in the healing power of Jesus and his (love-your-neighbor-as-yourself) teachings. Some Jewish elders nearby had told Jesus about this centurion's kind acts toward Jews, but there is nothing in those scriptures to indicate that the centurion's kind acts were limited to Jews only.

So, although you could have done this research yourself to determine whether or not Pastor Hagee was telling the truth regarding those points, the fact is that you can recognize that those "beliefs" of his are NOT coming from God the moment he starts promoting the satanically inspired concept of placing restrictions on ones definition of neighbor. It really is that simple!

The reason I am pointing these things out is that false teachings like those have succeeded in making millions of Americans' believe that gullibility and selfishness are virtues! Right-wing propagandists like Karl Rove have operated with considerable success on the assumption that these people will "believe anything they are told" by anyone who claims to be an authority of some kind. Millions of Americans seem to be addicted to programs that continually reassure them that it is not only OK but even godly to be selfish and even hatefilled at times.

By peddling gullibility and selfishness as "virtues", right-wing religious leaders and political propagandists have demonstrated that they can in effect "steal the shirts off of peoples' backs and make those people thank them for doing it." A few months ago I heard the father of a soldier killed in Iraq call in to Rush Limbaugh's radio show to thank him for (in effect) continuing to utter the kind of lies that needlessly led to the killing of his son in the first place. Another ungodly consequence, even for most American businesses, is that dishonest efforts (like the Republican Party's opposition to a federal minimum wage increase) have begun to shrink our nation's middle class, which had been growing rather steadily ever since the end of World War II. Those Republicans seem to be oblivious to the fact it is this very same "middle class" whose credit-card supported purchases have so far been preventing most rich people's over-leveraged financial "house of cards" from collapsing. Finally, it's important to note that it has primarily been people who have been taught that gullibility and selfishness are "virtues" who have been providing the "political base" for the Bush Administration's blood-stained efforts to establish "permanent" military bases in Iraq and its neighboring countries. As pointed out in the Terror Storm video (and elsewhere) for many years now, one of the main objectives of the Bush/Cheney "neo cons" is to lay the groundwork for what they hope will eventually become a worldwide military dictatorship "of the wealthy, by the wealthy, and for the wealthy" dedicated to the principle that "might makes right" rather than the rule of law. The Bush Administration's present efforts to chip away at our Constitutionally guaranteed rights and freedoms are viewed by them as a necessary step to not only help ensure their political survival, but also to help ensure that most US citizens will "transition smoothly" into such a worldwide dictatorship.

As anyone who has read the articles on this web site knows, I am a firm believer in the need for establishing a true world government, provided it is a government that is based on rule-of-law principles rather than "might makes right" principles. The actions of the Bush/Cheney Team show that they don't really believe in the traditional "rules of national sovereignty" (which they have frequently violated); so at least they have recognized (correctly) that the concept of "national sovereignty" is obsolete. The advance of civilization has reached a point where the whole world is going to have to decide whether to continue following the present Bush/Cheney "highway to hell" approach toward establishing a true world government (along with its very high risks of creating a global nuclear holocaust) or if they would rather follow God's lead towards establishing a rule-of-law type of true world government where God's guiding principles of truth and love can be taught and easily followed on a world-wide scale. Ever since God placed His mark (a crown) on Cain's head, God's answer to problems like wars and terrorism has been to establish a rule-of-law government. In the context of a true rule-of-law world government, there would no longer be any plausible need for military organizations, nuclear weapons, or any other "weapons of mass destruction", and acts of "terrorism" would be about as rare as they presently are in the United States.

How do we get from here to there? It's simpler than most people would think. There is no need to kill anybody in order to accomplish this. All you need to do is to TELL THE TRUTH based on God's guiding principles to truth and love and (as Jesus did) call pious frauds like Pastor Hagee "liars" and prove the charge. In 2003, those of us who pointed out the dishonesty of Bush's rationale for invading Iraq were generally viewed as being mere "voices in the wilderness." But now, just three years later, a sizeable majority of the American people has politically expressed agreement with most of those points, in spite of Karl Rove's well-financed efforts to deceive them even further. The same can happen regarding my proposals for a rule-of-law true world government. But this time, the lives you will save by helping to make this happen may well include your own and the lives of ALL of your neighbors and relatives!

I'm not talking about "distant future" possibilities here. As pointed out above, there is a shockingly HIGH PROBABLITY that a nuclear war of some kind will erupt THIS YEAR if the Bush/Cheney Team members are allowed to execute their apparent plans to attack Iran. And if that happens, it could easily lead to a world-wide nuclear holocaust THIS YEAR!

For more information on how the establishment of a rule-of-law-based world government may be brought about, I recommend you read my Jan 97 article on www.onesalt.com "What does 'The 2nd Coming of Christ' REALLY mean?" This article shows how the allegories in St. John's book of Revelation were really meant to be interpreted. Of the hundred or so different interpretations of Revelation that I have read over the past 40 years, that www.onesalt.com article still remains the only interpretation that I have seen that fully and consistently conforms with God's commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves (without restrictions). And, not surprisingly (to me at least), it is the only interpretation of Revelation that I have read that has "withstood the test of time." In many ways, it will "open your eyes" to what is really happening these days, and explain why.

One way or another, if mankind survives as all, there will eventually be a true world government. What remains to be determined is what kind of government it will be and how much it will cost mankind to get from here to there. People like YOU will help to determine these differences by your actions or inactions.
